GETTING STARTED

Do I need a referral from my child's doctor?

Nope. You can reach out to us directly and we'll take it from there. If your child's doctor is involved in their care and you'd like us to coordinate with them, we're happy to do that too. But Colorado is a direct access state, meaning you we can get started caring for your little one right away.

How do I know if Mighty Roots is the right fit for my child?

If your child is struggling with constipation, bedwetting, daytime accidents, potty training challenges, pelvic pain, feeding difficulties, or mealtime stress — you're in the right place. We work with children from infancy through adolescence, and we're experienced with a wide range of needs including sensory differences, anxiety, neurodiversity, and complex medical histories. Not sure? Give us a call today, we'll listen, ask a few questions, and give you an honest answer about whether we think we can help.

What ages do you work with?

We see children from birth through adolescence. Whether your baby is struggling with colic and digestive discomfort or your teenager is dealing with pelvic pain or bladder urgency, we have the training and experience to help at every stage of development.

How do I get started?

The easiest first step is calling us or filling out our online form so we can give you a call. It's just a real conversation, no commitment, no paperwork, no pressure. We'll hear what's going on and help you figure out the best next step for your family and get you scheduled.

ABOUT OUR SESSIONS

What happens at the first appointment?

Your first visit is a full 60-minute evaluation. We start by sitting down together, just us and your family, to hear your story. What's been going on, how long it's been happening, what you've already tried, and what you're hoping for. We want the whole picture, not just the symptoms.

From there, we'll do a play-based assessment with your child. Everything is child-led, age-appropriate, and designed to feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible. You are in the room for the entire session, always. At the end, we'll walk you through what we found and share our initial thoughts on a plan going forward.

How long are sessions?

Every session is 60 minutes, one-on-one, with the same therapist every time. We don't double-book, we don't rush, and we don't share your time slot with anyone else. That hour is completely dedicated to your child.

Will my child see the same therapist every visit?

Yes, always. Consistency matters enormously for children, especially when working on something as personal as bowel, bladder, or feeding challenges. Your child will build a real relationship with their therapist, and that trust is a big part of what makes therapy work.

Will parents be in the room?

Yes. You are part of every single session at Mighty Roots. We believe parents aren't just observers, you're an essential part of your child's progress. You'll understand exactly what we're doing and why, and you'll leave every session with tools and strategies to support your child between visits.

Is the therapy invasive or uncomfortable for my child?

Never. Pediatric pelvic floor therapy at Mighty Roots is completely external. There are no internal examinations for children, ever. Sessions are play-based, child-led, and designed to feel safe and fun. Most kids actually look forward to coming. We build trust at every step, and we always explain what we're doing in a way that makes sense for your child's age.

Will my child have homework between sessions?

Yes, and it's one of the most important parts of treatment. Real, lasting progress happens at home, in your child's actual environment, routines, and daily life. Your therapist will give you a clear, practical home program after each session and adjust it as your child progresses. We make it as simple and realistic as possible for busy families.

OUR APPROACH

What makes Mighty Roots different from other pediatric therapy clinics?

A few things. First, we are dedicated entirely to children, this isn't one specialty within a broader clinic. Kids are everything we do. Second, we take a root-cause approach rather than managing symptoms. We look at the whole child, their nervous system, sensory processing, movement patterns, posture, daily routines, and development, to understand what's actually driving their challenges. Third, parents are partners here, not passengers. You're in the room, you're part of the plan, and we give you real tools to use at home.

What does "root-cause approach" actually mean?

It means we don't just treat what we can see on the surface. Constipation isn't just a bowel problem. Bedwetting isn't just a bladder problem. These challenges are almost always connected to something deeper, the nervous system, sensory processing, posture, muscle coordination, or developmental factors. We take the time to find the actual why behind your child's symptoms, not just the quickest fix.

How many sessions will my child need?

Honestly, it varies. Every child is different, and we'll give you a realistic picture after the evaluation. Most families begin to see meaningful progress within 6 to 10 sessions. Some children need more, some need less. Our goal is always to get your child to a place where they no longer need us. We pride ourselves in making custom treatment plans, some families see progress quickly and we can move to maintenance and monthly check-ins, while other benefit greatly from weekly visits for a month or two. Whatever your child needs, our therapist will be sure to come up with a plan that is best for your kid and works for you family.

Do you work with neurodivergent children or kids with sensory differences?

Absolutely. We have significant experience working with children with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, and developmental delays. Our therapy is already play-based and child-led by design, which tends to work beautifully for kids who need a low-pressure, sensory-aware environment. We adapt our approach to every child's individual needs.
